Privacy Policy

URStoryBook is a platform for serialized fiction, operated by Peter Trinh. This policy covers the URStoryBook website and our mobile applications. Questions go to trinhpeter15@gmail.com.

We collect three kinds of information.

Information you give us:

• Account details — your email address, display name, handle, and password. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and basic profile information from that provider instead of a password.
• Profile content — any bio, avatar, and social links you choose to add.
• Content you publish — series, chapters, cover images, and posts.
• Payment information for coin purchases and creator payouts, which is collected and processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number.

Information we collect as you use the site:

• Reading activity — which chapters you have read and your position in them, so you can pick up where you left off.
• Engagement — the stories and creators you follow, your reactions and votes, and which chapters you have unlocked.
• Coin and transaction records — purchases, unlocks, ad-reward grants, earnings, and payouts, which we are required to keep as financial records.
• Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, and general location inferred from IP, collected in ordinary server and security logs.

Information from third parties:

• Authentication providers (Google, Apple) confirm your identity when you use them to sign in.
• Stripe tells us whether a payment succeeded and its amount.
• Advertising partners provide aggregate delivery and performance data. When you complete a rewarded ad, the ad network confirms to our servers that the view completed so we can unlock the chapter.

• To operate the service — showing you stories, saving your place, and running the coin economy.
• To personalize your feed. Your reading and engagement history feeds the ranking that decides which stories you are shown.
• To pay creators. Writers see aggregate readership and earnings for their own work — never your identity tied to individual reading activity.
• To process payments, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
• To serve and measure advertising, as described below.
• To contact you about your account, and — only with your consent — about the product.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers in a form that identifies you.

URStoryBook is supported by advertising. Advertising revenue is how free chapters stay free, and a share of it is paid to the writer whose story you are reading.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
• More detail on how Google uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We also use cookies and similar local storage that are strictly necessary to run the site — keeping you signed in, remembering your theme, and securing forms. These cannot be switched off without breaking the service.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalized advertising cookies are set, and you can change that choice at any time through the consent controls on the site.

We share information only with the providers that make the service work, and only as far as each needs:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
• Stripe — payment processing for coin purchases and creator payouts.
• Google (AdSense, and AdMob or Ad Manager for rewarded ads) — ad delivery and measurement.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers that serve the site.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud or protect someone's safety. If the service is ever acquired, account information would transfer with it, and we would tell you before that happened.

• Access and correction — you can view and edit your profile in Settings at any time.
• Deletion — you can request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing us. We must retain financial records of purchases and payouts where law requires it, and published chapters that others have paid to unlock may be retained in an anonymized form.
• Portability — you can request a copy of the information you have given us.
• Objection — you can ask us to stop using your activity for feed personalization.
• Advertising — you can opt out of personalized ads using the links in the advertising section above.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have these rights under the GDPR and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists, and transaction records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Reading activity is retained while it is useful for personalization.

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access to production systems is restricted, and chapter content is protected by row-level security so that paid content is only served to readers entitled to it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We operate in the United States, and our providers may process your information there and in other countries. Where information is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

URStoryBook is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it. Some stories on URStoryBook are written for adults; content ratings are set by the writer.

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the “Last updated” date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you directly before it takes effect.
